Firefighters are ranked as the most trustworthy profession across all global regions (source: GfK Verein, Trust in Professions 2016). Therefore, firefighters have the potential to do something more for their communities than firefighting. Being aware of this, in 2018 a group of firefighters from Spain founded EuroBomberos.

EuroBomberos

is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to empower professional and volunteer firefighters as agents of social change.

In 2019, EuroBomberos joined as an associated partner the European project Firefighters Plus. The project aimed at helping firefighters use their position as role models to promote social inclusion within their community. The results were well over the initial expectations: it won the European Fire Safety Award 2019; it was presented as a good practice in the European Forum on Integration of Migrants and Refugees in Hamburg (Germany); it was presented as a good practice in the International Safety Education Seminar in Antwerp (Belgium); it was presented as a good practice in the Dutch Fire Congress; and in Poland, the National Chief Fire Officer recommended all firefighters across the country to use it.

In 2019, EuroBomberos founded a youth fire brigade to also empower fire cadets as agents of social change.
